If the diameters of the pipes that need to be connected to each other in a pipeline are different, then a reduction muff should be used. The connection is made by attaching the large diameter pipe with the reduction muff to the larger part of the sleeve, and the smaller diameter one to the small diameter part of the muff.

Muffs without threads are called socket muff. In such muffs, the pipe is also not threaded in the muff. These muffs are connected by welding to the place where the pipe enters after the pipe enters the muff. The most important advantage of the muff is that they are both easy to assemble and disassemble and do not require any special workmanship.
